St. Paul, Minnesota-based EPC and solar investor Novel Energy Solutions will use Mechatron Solar's dual-axis trackers to develop 20 megawatts of solar in the Midwest.

Novel Energy Solutions develops industrial, commercial and utility-scale solar energy using Mechatron's patented high-yield dual-axis solar trackers. Novel Energy Solutions' strength in the Midwest market complements Mechatron's expanding North American geographic footprint, extending from Mechatron's base in California.

Mechatron will manufacture approximately 515 of its flagship M18KD trackers in Stockton, California, to supply the initial 20 megawatts of power that Novel Energy has agreed to develop.

The company said in a press release that the M18KD tracker has demonstrated 99.97% uptime across 90 MW in Europe and North America over the past decade. The Mechatron tracker features a gearless ball bearing design with a small installation footprint and can generate more than 40% more power than typical ground-mounted solar. Mechatron increased production by 10% when using bifacial modules on its dual-axis tracker.
